Dropping the Junior

Last week marked two years of me working as a copywriter, so forgive me for feeling a little nostalgic. When I made the decision to leave my first real, adult job, I was scared as hell. I had my portfolio from school, but no faith in my abilities. I was as green as they come, waiting for someone to take a chance on me and my work.

Over the past few years, a lot has changed. I understand my own value, and I have faith in the work I put out. MBB has a strong focus on work/life balance, but that doesn’t mean I’m not hustling. Someone told me a few years ago that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so I’m not afraid, even as a junior creative, to think big, dream big and play big.

In 2018, I accomplished more than I could have imagined. Yes, I dropped the dreaded “junior,” taking my place as a no-prefix copywriter, but more importantly, I’m proud of the work I put into the agency and the work I put out for clients. I’m in a new phase of my career.

Here are my top 5:

  1. Worked on my first big RFP

  2. Wrote my first TV spot

  3. Came up with an innovative, engaging social media video for the Chinet Comfort Cup Relaunch

  4. Brought Till’s brand essence to life on social (acting as copywriter and amateur mixologist)

  5. Pitched bigger and badder ideas than ever— some that worked, and some that didn’t

So stay tuned for more work. I’m excited for 2019, and even more excited to show the world what I can do.
